The Foundation: Forged in Service

GPS wasn’t born in a corporate boardroom; it was forged in the high-stakes, high-pressure environments of world-renowned gatherings like Symbiosis and Lightning in a Bottle. Our founder, Metatron, began his journey in the trenches as a Ranger, mastering the art of "Invisible Security" and "Community Care" — the rare ability to maintain safety through co-regulation and empathetic presence rather than just force.

This foundation preceded the co-founding of the Lucidity Festival in 2012. From co-creating its transformational culture as Curation Director to serving five years as Site Operations Director, we developed a safety philosophy that earned Lucidity the title of #1 Family Festival in the World. In 2017, a Lucidity project was born, named the "Lucid Guardians".  This project aimed to establish community care and self governance as actionable reality.
 

The Guardian Evolution

It was from this Forge that the "Guardian" philosophy was born. We realized that traditional security was broken. National companies were serving our area with standardized, cold solutions and account managers who never set foot on the properties they protected. They focused on "control," while we were perfecting Harm Reduction and De-escalation.

This realization led to the formation of The Guardian Team in 2018, co-founded with Benjamin Johnson and erica parks.  that set a new standard for event safety. But the mission didn’t stop there. To truly protect the community where we live, work, and raise our families, a more focused, local identity was needed.

The Evolution: Proven at Scale

While our roots are in the Central Coast, the "Guardian" reputation spread across the West Coast circuit. From the rugged woods of Northern Nights Music Festival to the coastal energy of Shabang in SLO, we have managed the safety of cities that rise and fall in a week. This expertise earned us the trust of the Isla Vista Recreation & Parks Department and Community Service District to steward their most complex urban challenges: Halloween and Deltopia.

In 2023, we brought this decade of award-winning expertise home. Garrison Protective Services (GPS) is a locally-owned, licensed Private Patrol Operation serving Goleta, Lompoc, Santa Ynez, and the greater Santa Barbara area. We aren't a national corporation with a distant call center; we are your neighbors, protecting the community we live in.
